“Most Wanted: Behind the Hype” Artist F3ature: CARSON CATLIN

We just received a ton of shots of Carson Catlin’s contribution to the “Most Wanted: Behind the Hype” Show. Here’s what he had to say

Here are my customs for the Most Wanted show at 1am on the May the 11th in San Francisco.

There are two 4″ reticulated Munny’s names RMPO and RMBP.

And a 8″ reticulated Dunny (first ever for me) named RDOB.

The show opens 6:30p.m. 5/11 at the 1AM gallery. Will run until 6/10.

1st of all, his style is insane. With surgical precision, he slices munnys and dunnys into mini masterpieces. I can’t imagine the time, planning, and skill with a knife that it takes to make these. Maybe Carson is also a seasoned surgeon who makes great art in his spare time….who knows. But what I DO know is that these look great, and I’m glade he made them. From what we’ve seen so far, this show is going to be crazy!

We have just received some exclusive shots of Artmymind’s submission to the “Most Wanted: Behind the Hype” Show, which will be held at 1AM gallery from May 11th – June 10th, and I have just one word: WOW!!! The level of detail on these guys are blowing my mind. Not to mention the hand stitching, which I’m ALWAYS a big fan of. I mean from the sculpting, to the painting, to the clothes, Artmymind has completely nailed it!

“Most Wanted: Behind the Hype” Vinyl Toy Show

The Most Wanted: Behind the Hype vinyl toy show is set to occur from May11th – June 10th 2012 at the 1AM Gallery in San Francisco. The MW blog, provides the following additional details:

“1AM, with curators Manny Rivas and James Brown, are proud to present “Most Wanted: Behind the Hype”,  a toy vinyl show featuring the best customizers in the game.  More than 25 artists were given Kidrobot platforms to showcase their creativity and skills.  Without any specific theme to address, everyone is pushing the boundaries of their own unique style.  The opening reception is on Friday, May 11^th, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:30pm and will run through June 10^th, 2012.

“The Most Wanted” (MW) is an artist collective that started in 2009 and created by Tim Munz, Igor Ventura, and Manny Rivas.  It is a custom Dunny series that pays homage to Kidrobot and their classic blind box series.  Bringing together a huge collective of talent from across the globe, MW1 and its’ predecessor, MW2, were instant successes with both series selling out in a matter of seconds.  Despite the continuing success of the collection, the founders’ goal remains the same: find and showcase the most competent up-and-comers in the scene and spread their talent across the globe.  One of the best ways to do that is to exhibit the incredible works at art galleries.

The “Most Wanted: Behind The Hype” show has no particular theme to limit the artists’ imagination.  Manny and James wanted everyone to bring their own distinctive styles to the table and present them on the most popular platforms out there, KidRobot’s Munnys and Dunnys. The focus of this exhibit is to display the true talent and passion that lies behind the hype.  What is the hype? Join us at the opening reception on Friday, May 11^th and find out!”
