A lot of people we talk with are big ThreeA fans.  As you know ThreeA has released many rare and expensive toys.  Conventions are sometimes the only place you would get to see the likes of a WWR Nom De Plume, Blanc De plume or even an Easter TQ.

Their NYCC booth doesn’t disappoint this year with a ton of their releases right on display for fans to drool over.

Mawuli sent over some pics of the booth so if you are planning to go to NYCC and haven’t stopped by make sure it’s on your list!

New York Comic Con is upon us!!!  This year looks to be one of the strongest in the con’s history.  Not only are there exclusives and panels to check out at the convention center there are shows around NYC.  Doktor A has a show opening at My Plastic Heart, kaNO has an art retrospective show, Kidrobot is having their 10th anniversary party…and the list goes on.

N3rd Link members Geoff, Nico and Mawuli are in New York for the convention and will be providing some pics of the convention through the weekend.

Hear are some pics from the first day of the convention.  It’s great to see the expansion of the vinyl toy scene at the convention as well as other pop culture staples like The Scooby Doo Mystery Machine, Back to the Future Delorean and others.

More pics will be added as the weekend progresses.  Stay Tuned.

Are you at the Con? what are you most excited for?  Tweet us @n3rdlink

Pics were taken at the Kidrobot, Rampage Toys, Art Whino, Tenacious Toys and other booths.

Episode 15 is ready for your to listen to.

Nico talks about his trip to Hong Kong and his hate for Kate Hudson.

Don’t forget…to listen on your iPhone open the iTunes app and search “N3rd Link” and stream it to your phone!

The first part of our J-Ryu interview will be up very soon as well!

A ton of pictures have started surfacing of both the setup and opening reception for 3A’s Reventure Show in Hong Kong. It appears to have a lot of surprises (can we say 1:1 peaceday dropcloth!!!), as well as first looks at the Reventure exclusives figures, and some reveals and prototypes of upcoming figures.

Oh, and of course a TON of artwork.

more info at the Reventure blog: http://hkv2.blogspot.com/

and at the 3Avox FB page

If you have been following Ashley Wood and his toy company ThreeA like we have you know a few things

1. ThreeA can make some sweet Robots

2. ThreeA is having their annual Re-venture show in Hong Kong

3. ThreeA is growing at a considerable rate. grabbing different licenses to create new toys (some fans may argue too many to keep the toys quality up to snuff)

Since ThreeA revealed that they are partnering with Valve to create toys the first thing people thought about was Portal 2.  Specifically Atlas and P-body.

Well Portal fans your dreams may just come true.  This morning (night if you are in Hong Kong) ThreeA displayed their prototypes for their Atlas and P-Body toys.  And I will say I am pretty impressed.  Below is a picture of the two bots on display at the Reventure show.  There is a rumor we may see more information closer to SDCC but no release date or information is known at this time.

I just may have to pick these if they get released sooner rather than later.

3A’s Nabler shows his head

Fellow N3rds…hope your holidays gifts were amazing! If not, have no fear, 3A nablers landed during the Holidays. Last November we saw the sale of Nabler a 1/6 scale bot head.  Nabler was sold as blind box, with 6 possible colors, red, orange, black, white, light grey and dark grey, each color then had 3 possible mouth expressions smile, frown, or straight mouth.  If all combinations are equal this would give you a 1 in 5.55% chance of getting the exact one you wanted.  Nablers measure approximately 4.5” tall and has smoke coming out it’s back much like the bambaboss.

Since I’m not a huge bot or bot head fan I wasn’t completely sold on the Nabler but I was intrigued enough to grab 2 blind boxes.  I felt the worst case scenario I could trade or sell them.

The Good:

-The size; The Nabler itself is a 1:6 scale bot head but it does not feel out of place next to 1:6 or 1:12 scale figures…they even look great next to other company toys too.

-The “wondering eye”; One notable feature of Nabler is the “wondering” eye.  You can rotate the Nabler’s eye 360 degrees so you are able to pose it whichever way you want.  It gives the bot head a “humanized” feel to it.

The Bad:

-On some of the forums I did read comments, where collectors received 3 and sometimes 5 of the same color and expression in their order. All things being equal and random the odds of that happening is pretty slim.  One could ask the question if they were really “blind boxed.”

The Verdict:

Overall for the price it’s a great buy. They are running for about $100 on eBay right now so if you missed out on the release they are available if you have the cash.

Best of luck to those who missed out and those searching for their preferred color and face.

Have a great 2012!

Nico.

It’s a learning experience.

Do you like toys? Do you like Dr. Who?  If you answered yes to one or two of those questions then you are in for a treat (or maybe a trick, ‘tis the season right?)

Straight from our very own Nikejerk, is one of his submissions for next Friday’s 3A show at the 1am Gallery in San Francisco.

A 3A DIY bot head transformed into a Dr. Who Cyberman helmet.

When Nikejerk told me he was creating a Cyberman helmet out of his bot head I thought it was a fantastic idea.  I don’t know a better DIY platform for this idea.

Well here is the finished product and it turned out great.

No price is set yet for the piece but it will be for sale at the opening of the show.  If you are in the San Francisco area check it out!
