One thing I enjoy about art is the process. It’s fascinating to see an artist turn a blank canvas into work of art with different media. Whether it’s being there in person or watching a time lapsed video seeing a piece of art be created from start to finish is something to behold.

In the case, it was Eric Maruscak’s (http://www.pepperink.com/) presence at the Shifty Look space that had me standing and watching him create his chalk mural. Shifty Look (subsidiary of Namco Bandai) takes older video game characters reinvents their image and creates web comics.

At C2E2 Eric created a mural of the main characters from Shifty Look’s comics. The process took about 31 hours to complete but the results were nothing short of awesome.

Eric has been hired as a chalk artist by such companies like Nintendo of America, ESPN, Warner Bros., Marvel and Lucas Film he also has over 15 years of experience as an illustrator and cartoonist.

If you don’t believe me when I say how cool his work is, go check out his site Pepper Ink and follow him on twitter @pepperink. He has a ton of time lapse videos available including his piece at C2E2 (also check out his Zelda art from last year’s SDCC!)

This weekend Eric will be in Chicago again for Anime Central. If you are attending definitely check out his work!

Here is a pic from his piece at C2E2!
