The drop is timed to coincide with The Beatles re-release of Yellow Submarine to DVD along with the release of the remastered Yellow Submarine CD, and is the first time since 1968 that The Beatles have formally allowed their classic characters to be reinterpreted.
Tom Whalen has crafted an extraordinary series of 5 prints for The Beatles official Yellow Submarine Folio that reinterprets Yellow Submarine while staying faithful to its timeless legacy of originality. Each print is individually numbered, 18″ x 24″ in size, and each is lovingly and meticulously screen printed, by hand, with all prints housed within their own Folio protective cases, also designed by artist Tom Whalen and beautifully bearing the film’s classic Yellow Submarine and original 1968 film release date on its respective case cover. The psychedelic colors colors suit the set well, as they make me feel like I’ve been transported back to the era of black light posters and lava-lamps. With this being an officially licensed product, I imagine that Beatles enthusiasts well be at their computers at the drop time pushing the limits of Dark Hall Mansion Productions’ servers.
