SDCC is underway! Preview night was a success and the N3rdlink crew was present and even managed to score most of the pieces and posters that they were after. We will all be getting up in about half an hour to get in line. Here are a few pics from the preview night. We will be posting more pics as the con continues.

For those not on their mailing list, here is some info on how to score some San Diego Comic Con re-sale tickets. Good Luck to those hunting!

Comic-Con International is pleased to announce that because of returned/cancelled badges we will once again be able to offer those badges for resale. This year we have also reduced the allotment of reserved badges for certain departments. Comic-Con has decided to add these badges to the resale for our attendees. We currently have several thousand single day badges available for resale, only 3,100 of which are Saturday badges. 4-Day badges are sold out.

Due to the very limited number of badges available and our vendor EPIC Registration being focused on coordinating onsite registration, the Comic-Con 2013 badge resale will be conducted utilizing a random drawing.

To enter the Comic-Con 2013 Resale Drawing, login to your Member ID account now and click the blue notice that says “Click Here to Enter a Drawing to be Eligible for the Comic-Con 2013 Badge Resale!”

The drawing entry period will remain open for 48 hours only, and will close June 12, 2013 at 10:59:59 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Late entries will not be accepted.

You must have a valid and confirmed Comic-Con Member ID to enter the drawing.
Anyone who has already registered for or purchased a 4-Day badge (with or without Preview Night) or a single day Saturday badge will not be eligible to enter the drawing.

Those selected to participate in the Comic-Con 2013 badge resale may purchase their own badges, as well as badges for one additional guest. You may purchase for any guest who has a confirmed Member ID (as of June 7, 2013) and does not have a 4-Day badge (with or without Preview Night) or a single day Saturday badge. Your guest does not need to be selected from the drawing pool to be eligible to purchase.

Comic-Con will notify everyone who is selected to participate by email on or before June 17, 2013.

New York Comic Con is upon us!!!  This year looks to be one of the strongest in the con’s history.  Not only are there exclusives and panels to check out at the convention center there are shows around NYC.  Doktor A has a show opening at My Plastic Heart, kaNO has an art retrospective show, Kidrobot is having their 10th anniversary party…and the list goes on.

N3rd Link members Geoff, Nico and Mawuli are in New York for the convention and will be providing some pics of the convention through the weekend.

Hear are some pics from the first day of the convention.  It’s great to see the expansion of the vinyl toy scene at the convention as well as other pop culture staples like The Scooby Doo Mystery Machine, Back to the Future Delorean and others.

More pics will be added as the weekend progresses.  Stay Tuned.

Are you at the Con? what are you most excited for?  Tweet us @n3rdlink

Pics were taken at the Kidrobot, Rampage Toys, Art Whino, Tenacious Toys and other booths.

Never heard of it? Well, if you are reading this blog in the 1st place, then you probably like animae or manga. Well this is an annual convention to celebrate just that! Annually close to 30,000 fans descend upon the Baltimore inner harbor to participate in the three day convention which features animae related, cosplay, workshops, panels, games, movies, and more.

The convention begins today and will run from July 27 – July 29, 2012 at the Baltimore Convention Center Baltimore, Maryland, USA. You can register on the spot, and since they do not offer daily passes, $80 will gain you access to all of the activities all weekend long. Registration details can be found here.

The Otakon website says this about the convention:

Otakon is the convention of the otaku generation: by fans, for fans; and we’re back for our 19th year in 2012!

Join thousands of your fellow fans as we descend on Baltimore to celebrate all anime, manga, and all facets of Asian pop culture!

Ever since 1999, we’ve taken over a sizable chunk of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for a 3-day festival celebrating the pop culture that’s brought us everything from Astroboy to Yu-Gi-Oh, from the Seven Samurai to Spirited Away.

We can’t wait to see you there!

The convention even has its own mascots: Hiroko-chan, and her brother Hiroshi-kun who each have a distinct personality profile (I love that they put this much time into developing the background of the mascots!).

If you are in the Baltimore area this weekend I would highly recommend at least driving by the convention center to see all of the people in costume.

You can learn more about the convention on their website, or by follwiing the

So we lied, and didn’t keep you up to date with the convention happenings…but the internet at our hotel was $10 a day so we decided that the $ was better spent on toys, food and beer. Now that members of the N3rdlink team have all safely returned from the San Diego Comic Convention, we will be returning to our regularly scheduled programming starting tomorrow after we all recover from sleep deprivation and dehydration. We plan to regale you with con recaps, super exclusive reviews, as well as talk about how one of the members was filmed for the BBC, ended up on MTV, and will also be on an upcoming app. Stay tuned!

For those in the Chicago area you might be familiar with C2E2.  It’s Chicago’s biggest Comic and Entertainment Expo, and it’s happening April 13-15 at the North Building at the McCormick Place.

With a big focus on comics C2E2 is also beefing up their guest list with some pretty big name stars.

Here are just a few scheduled to Appear:

John Cusack, Anne Rice, Chris Hardwick, Lauren Cohan (Maggie The Walking Dead),  Steven Yeun (Glen from The Walking Dead), Val Kilmer, Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine)

Probably the thing I am most looking forward to, is the appearance and free performance of Steve Rannazzisi (Kevin from the League) with Kevin Brown (aka “dot com” on 30 Rock!)

Along with plenty of cosplayers and panels from Marvel and IDW there is plenty to do and see to tide you over before SDCC kicks off in July.

If all goes well N3rd Link will be have R3views and interviews from the floor at C2E2.  So if you are in the Chicago Area it is something to definitely out!

Tickets are available On line at the door or possibly at your local comic retailer!

Cost: $25/day & $50 for the weekend (in advance) OR At the door $35/day & $65 for the weekend

See you at the Con!

This takes n3rdom to a whole new level!

Comic creator and PhD. Student Nick Sousanis at Columbia University has taken his love of comics by teaching a class and writing his dissertation about the benefits of using comics in the classroom…in the form of a comic.

Check out his site here

If you would like to read his comic dissertation check it out here or if you are interested in what is covered in his class read the syllabus here.

If you have any questions Nick can be contacted at or check out his blog.

I’m not one to dress my dog up in costumes or crazy outfits, but every once in a while I see a cool shirt or hoodie and I’ll buy it for him.  If anything it helps with all the shedding he does.

I walked into my local Pet Smart and I was surprised that for a limited time they now have their own Marvel dog clothes and toy line!  The clothes feature Marvel’s characters like The Hulk, Wolverine, Thor, X-men, The Avengers, Ironman, Spiderman, Captain America  etc.

Most of the clothes I passed on, BUT I couldn’t resist and bought my dog a shirt that looks like he has the Capt. America shield on his back.

So if you are interested in some cool comic related stuff for your dog go check them out on line or your local Pet Smart!

Here is a pic of my dog Brock (named after Brock Sampson from venture Bros.!)

Huck Gee’s solo 11/10 show was a huge hit with art and toy collectors alike.  The show also marked the release of his brand new book chronicaling chronicling his work so far.  The exclusive black cover has long sold out but starting January 5 Huck Gee is taking is book on a 11 city tour starting with Plastic Chapel in Denver, Colorado.  At the events Huck will be signing his tour exclusive white cover book.

Check out the tour stops to see if Huck will be in your neighborhood!
