Comic-Con International is pleased to announce that because of returned/cancelled badges we will once again be able to offer those badges for resale. This year we have also reduced the allotment of reserved badges for certain departments. Comic-Con has decided to add these badges to the resale for our attendees. We currently have several thousand single day badges available for resale, only 3,100 of which are Saturday badges. 4-Day badges are sold out.

Due to the very limited number of badges available and our vendor EPIC Registration being focused on coordinating onsite registration, the Comic-Con 2013 badge resale will be conducted utilizing a random drawing.

To enter the Comic-Con 2013 Resale Drawing, login to your Member ID account now and click the blue notice that says “Click Here to Enter a Drawing to be Eligible for the Comic-Con 2013 Badge Resale!”

The drawing entry period will remain open for 48 hours only, and will close June 12, 2013 at 10:59:59 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Late entries will not be accepted.

You must have a valid and confirmed Comic-Con Member ID to enter the drawing.
Anyone who has already registered for or purchased a 4-Day badge (with or without Preview Night) or a single day Saturday badge will not be eligible to enter the drawing.

Those selected to participate in the Comic-Con 2013 badge resale may purchase their own badges, as well as badges for one additional guest. You may purchase for any guest who has a confirmed Member ID (as of June 7, 2013) and does not have a 4-Day badge (with or without Preview Night) or a single day Saturday badge. Your guest does not need to be selected from the drawing pool to be eligible to purchase.

Comic-Con will notify everyone who is selected to participate by email on or before June 17, 2013.

The newest Kidrobot Mascot comes as somewhat of a surprise as it is a tribute piece. Major Lazer is a successful collaborative project between award winning producers Diplo and Switch. With their infectious reggae-fusion/dancehall/electronic house sound, crazy music videos, and blond mowhawked hype man Skerrit Bwoy the group has been a huge success.

The Major Lazer Mascot is based on the cartoon figure which often appears in their videos.

Major Lazer – Hold The Line

Major Lazer – Pon De Floor (Audio only…if you can find it, the video is slightly NSFW) If this track sounds familiar its because Beyonce sampled it for her hit track “Run the World (Girls).

Major Lazer – Keep it Going Louder

Here’s what the Kidrobot Kronicle had to say about the release.

Guns don’t kill people… lazers do.

1984: the Olympic Games are held in LA, President Reagan runs for re-election, the AIDS epidemic runs rampant, and underneath it all, the secret Zombie War rages. One secret soldier is rescued from the fray, his arm gone, but his spirit strong. He is given an experimental lazer prosthetic and hired by the CIA to continue his fight against the forces of evil. He fronts as a dancehall nightclub owner from Trinidad, though in truth, he is a badass Jamaican keeping the world safe from vampires and monsters, while partying hard and tweeting.

Major Lazer Kidrobot is an 7-inch vinyl homage to the renegade soldier turned CIA operative. A collaborative project of the Grammy nominated producer Diplo and DJ Switch, Major Lazer debuted with the album Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do in 2009, followed by Lazers Never Die in 2010. A new album, titled Free the Universe, featuring Diplo as the solo executive producer, is out February 2013. Major Lazer Kidrobot has a uniquely sculpted head and lazer arm to properly capture his eighties commando style and signature prosthetic. The real Major Lazer is hitting the road 2/28 for a 43 city world  headlining tour beginning in Toronto.

Retailing for $50 US, this ‘bot hits the stage February 19 at Kidrobot stores,, and select retailers worldwide.

From the Mascot thread on the Kidrobot forums, it looks like not everyone is feeling this release, but I am since I have enjoyed their music for years. While we are at it, I’m also hoping for a Daft Punk Mascot release one day also!

In a day and age where the demand for physical media is waning rapidly, I happened to run across a company who is specializing in special re-issues of classic vinyl, CD, and cassettes (yes cassettes). That’s actually how I found them. I have been searching for a copy of Raekwon’s Only Built for Cuban Links cassette (which is known simple as the purple tape since it was made of clear purple plastic), ever since I let my good buddy DJ Inkognito (@djinkognito) borrow it and never got it back (which to this day he still claims is untrue, but I know better than that). I randomly saw a post on the Kidrobot forums referring to the purple tape and thought, it can’t be! But it was! And it was on ebay in a special deluxe case made out of mahogany?! HOW DID I MISS THIS?! After I had recovered, I went to the site that created the re-issue and begged them to sell me one of the now sold out sets…a broken or damaged one…a sample one…anything! I guess I wasn’t the only one hitting up Get On Down Records with this request, because they had a few left over which they released online to those who had missed out. This second sale crashed their server. I missed out again, but during this I discovered their site. WOW. They had:

Albums released on USB drive that look like turntable needles

Deluxe Versions of the GZA’s Liquid sword CD that have a chess set included!

Fat Boys LPs that look like a pizza, and come in a pizza box!

A newly released Nas Illmatic Set!

A Set of 45 rpm singles from the Rojac/Tay-ster catalog in an alligator textured case

to name a few…..

If you like music, and appreciate the old days of vinyl cassettes and CD’s I would suggest you check out

Downtown Locker Room (DTLR) announced that they would only be selling the Yeezy 2’s from their Senator Square location in DC. According to their twitter (@DTLR) EVERYONE who was in line at 7:30am on 6/9 would receive a raffle ticket, for a chance to purchase one of the pairs that they had available. Furthermore, they would have approximately 50 pairs, and a strong police presence… not bad. Now i’m too old to deal with all this new camping mess… but a raffle I can do. Alarm went off at 5am, but I quickly decided that there was really no need to get there too early like in the days of old… so I re-set it and went back to sleep. Woke up a little later, then me and wifey drove on down to the spot. Now after hearing all of the madness that went down during various Foamposite Galaxy releases all up and down the East Coast, I was pleased to see how organized this release was. Don’t get me wrong, there were a TON of people there (about 1000), but it was organized, and orderly. The line snaked around the building then up the bridge next to the store.

True to their word, DTLR gave a ticket to everyone, then started calling off numbers. As great as the odds were, they weren’t in my favor, so currently i’m (like their 400K other followers) fanatically monitoring @nikestore for the random online drop.  Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!

Props to DTLR for running an extremely well thought out and safe release. If you aren’t already, follow them at @DTLR

BTW if anyone happens to score, please shoot us a ton of pics at

At long last, Nike has released some definitive information on the drop date of the highly anticipated sneaker

Forging a new form of sport craftsmanship, the Nike Air Yeezy II blends classic Nike court breakthroughs with the performance and aesthetic demands of bringing hype to a crowd of thousands.

A primal, tactile approach to technology runs throughout every element of the Nike Air Yeezy II. Armored animalistic forms imbue the upper. Hand skived anaconda textured leather quarter panels are embellished with a debossed Vac-Tech Nike Swoosh. The molded rear is sculpted with a reptilian inspired spike, while an engineered strap with scaled down spikes was developed to offer a greater sense of symmetry and lock down.

Bringing the inspiration forward from the late 1980’s basketball foundation of the original Nike Air Yeezy, the II is built on the Nike Air Tech Challenge II tennis shoe outsole and celebrates iconic Nike Cross Training silhouettes with the addition of the molded forefoot strap.

There’s absolute function at the Air Yeezy II’s core. Unnecessary padding was eliminated, and the foot-hugging tongue and plush collar are both comfortable and breathable. Fit was essential to the design with the goal to make the shoe slimmer than the original by tailoring it to Kanye West’s foot. The collar was also lowered to allow for greater movement.

An obsessive approach to materials results in a luxurious mix of leather, rugged ballistic nylon, and soft nubuck. Concealed but opulent details reference ancient civilizations, including a loop strap with hieroglyphics that spell out ‘YZY.’ Each screw on lace aglet is obelisk shaped, and the anaconda texture is echoed on the eyelets and leather lace toggle that carries the Roman numeral ‘II.’

The Nike Air Yeezy II in the Platinum and the Black edition will release June 9th at select global retailers in limited numbers.

Hopefully the Nike twitter reservation system works out, because there will be absurd numbers of people camped out for these. Good luck to all trying to score these!

Dark Hall Mansion Productions in Los Angeles will be releasing an officially licensed 5 print set. The drop is timed to coincide with The Beatles re-release of Yellow Submarine to DVD along with the release of the remastered Yellow Submarine CD, and is the first time since 1968 that The Beatles have formally allowed their classic characters to be reinterpreted.

Tom Whalen has crafted an extraordinary series of 5 prints for The Beatles official Yellow Submarine Folio that reinterprets Yellow Submarine while staying faithful to its timeless legacy of originality. Each print is individually numbered, 18″ x 24″ in size, and each is lovingly and meticulously screen printed, by hand, with all prints housed within their own Folio protective cases, also designed by artist Tom Whalen and beautifully bearing the film’s classic Yellow Submarine and original 1968 film release date on its respective case cover. The release will take place on Tues, May 29th at 9:30 AM PST at

The psychedelic colors colors suit the set well, as they make me feel like I’ve been transported back to the era of black light posters and lava-lamps. With this being an officially licensed product, I imagine that Beatles enthusiasts well be at their computers at the drop time pushing the limits of Dark Hall Mansion Productions’ servers. These prints are sure to light up any room, and look great on any wall, so be sure to grab these while you can!

Much like Kickstarter for artists and designers Pledge Music has been created for Musicians to help bring their talents and vision to life.

It is set up much like Kickstarter, the musician sets different “Pledge” levels which have different incentives attached to them (The more you pledge the cooler the incentive.)

Already a lot of artists are foregoing the traditional marketing route and joining the grass roots/user funded marketing schemes including…

BFF is going to be releasing their first album in over 12 years and has set up a Pledge Music page to help promote and get the word out on the street.  The incentive pledge starts at $10 for a digital download of the album and goes up to $62 which you would get (Digital Download, Signed Vinyl Album, BFF Tour T-Shirt.)  At this point the project has already reached 188% of its goal and some of the incentives are sold out but the project is still available for fans to pledge.  Some proceeds will be donated to Music Education/Therapy programs.

So if you are a Ben Folds Five Fan and want to get in on the action go check out the project and make a pledge! You can even download their new track “Do it anyway” for free!

Growing up in the Detroit area I have been a fan of Jack White especially the White Stripes.  From their self-titled to Icky Thump I’ve owned all their full length albums.  Their music is simple but addictive.  Since they are on a “hiatus” Jack has branched out with bands such as The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs who have all been successful.

Now Jack is set to release his first solo Album Blunderbuss in April and it’s first single Love Interruption dropped today.

Definitely check it out on iTunes ($1.29) Available now.

It’s got that Jack White bluesy feel to it that if you were a White Stripes fan you won’t be disappointed.
